Overview

Returns Management is a BigCommerce app that gives store owners a streamlined, self-service returns process. Customers can submit return requests directly from their storefront account — selecting items, choosing a return reason, and uploading photos — without needing to contact support. The app handles email notifications to staff, generates PDF packing slips, and can be embedded into any custom page on your store.

Installation

Returns Management is a one-click install via the BigCommerce App Marketplace. Once installed, eligible orders will automatically display a Return Order Request button in the customer's account. If you require additional customisations or features, contact us for a quote.

Advanced Settings

Upload your packing slip logo, set return instructions and return address, add support contact details, control packing slip generation and delivery, disable the app, whitelist IPs for testing, and configure Google reCAPTCHA keys for spam protection.

Subscription

View your current plan, track monthly order usage, manage your payment method, and access billing history and past invoices.

How it works

When a customer logs into their account and views their order history or order details, a Return Order Request button appears next to eligible orders. Here is what happens when they click it:

  1. Item selection — A modal opens where the customer selects the specific items and quantities they wish to return.
  2. Return reason — The customer must choose a return reason from the available options.
  3. Photo upload — The customer can upload photos of the items. Depending on your settings, this step may be optional or required.
  4. Terms acceptance — The customer must accept your terms and conditions before submitting.
  5. Submission — On submit, a notification email is sent to your configured staff addresses. If Auto Generate Packing Slip is enabled, a PDF packing slip is created and optionally emailed to the customer.

The return button can also be displayed on any custom page — such as a Warranty page — by adding the CSS class .mi-rma-button to any HTML element on that page.
