Getting Started
Content Restrictions by MyIntegrator adds a password prompt to selected BigCommerce storefront URLs. You can protect category pages, product pages, CMS pages, or custom paths.
The app uses an installed storefront script. It is designed for practical storefront gating, not bank-grade access control.
Before you start
- Install Content Restrictions on your BigCommerce store.
- In the BigCommerce control panel, open Apps and open Content Restrictions.
- Confirm the trial or subscription is active. New installs include a 14-day free trial. After the trial, the app is USD 89 per month per store.
Install or refresh the storefront script
Password prompts appear only when the storefront script is installed.
- Open Advanced Settings.
- Select Install / Refresh Script.
- Confirm the script is active on the channels where you need protection.
If you later change theme, channels, or script settings, run Install / Refresh Script again.
Set default behaviour
- Open General Settings.
- Confirm Disable App Completely is off.
- Review Content Restriction Defaults:
- Default Unlock Minutes — how long a successful unlock lasts in that browser. The default is 30 minutes.
- Default Prompt Message — the text on the storefront password form. The default is
Please enter the password. - Wrong Password Message — the retry text after an incorrect password. The default is
Incorrect Password. Please enter the correct password.
- Select Save Changes.
These defaults apply to new URL restrictions. You can still change the prompt and unlock time on each rule.
Add your first URL restriction
- Open Content Restrictions.
- Select Add URL Restriction.
- Enter a URL Pattern. Use the path visitors see, for example
/partner-stores/schools/. Use*to match one URL segment, for example/brands/*/sale/. - Enter a Label for the admin list.
- Enter a Password.
- Optionally use Fill from category (optional) to copy a category URL and name into the form.
- Review Unlock Minutes, Prompt Message, and Channels. New rules start on the default storefront channel. Select Apply to all channels only if the prompt must appear on every channel.
- Confirm Enabled is on.
- Select Add Rule.
A category rule does not lock product pages that use a different URL. Add a separate rule for each product, CMS, or custom path you need to protect.
Test the protected URL
- Open a private or incognito browser window.
- Visit the protected storefront URL on a channel included in the rule.
- Confirm the password prompt appears and the page content is hidden.
- Enter the correct password and confirm the page unlocks.
- Reload the same URL in a new private window, enter an incorrect password, and confirm the wrong-password message appears.
